We are proud to be the winner of the Mission Times Courier's Neighborhood Best reader's poll  "Best Do-Gooder Organization"

Chartered in San Diego in 1960, we are a service organization of men and women desiring personal involvement in the leadership and improvement of our community. As Kiwanians, we volunteer our time to make our communities and world better places in which to live and work. As a group, we achieve what individuals cannot do alone. Our club is proud to be a part of Kiwanis International.

Fresh Produce is Back in Allied Gardens!!

Hello neighbors! Ever since Albertson's closed in February, the Allied Gardens community has been stuck without a local grocery store for such basic needs as fresh fruit and vegetables.  Local residents would have to commute to San Carlos, Del Cerro, or Mission Valley -- and fight crowded parking lots and plenty of traffic, too.

The Grantville-Allied Gardens Kiwanis Club is happy to announce the opening of a new Farmers Market right here in our own community! FRESH PRODUCE IS BACK!

As of May 15th, the Kiwanis Farmers Market will bring fresh fruits and vegetables back to Allied Gardens, at the corner of Waring Road and Zion Avenue, in the former Albertson's parking lot. The Kiwanis Farmers Market will be open every Friday from 4pm to 8pm until further notice. Look for Farmer's Market on Facebook.

We hope this will work as a temporary solution until a new, permanent grocery store can replace the vacant building where Albertson's used to be. In the meantime, please join us for some of your favorite fruits and veggies, many organically-grown, brought to you by local merchants.

Like all Kiwanis-sponsored events, this is a nonprofit effort designed to raise funds for use in our local community (schools, hospitals, youth groups, libraries... you name it!). Help us spread the word.... tell your friends and neighbors. What a great way to get together as a community!

For more information, come to any Kiwanis meeting (open to the public), Thursday mornings, 7:00 a.m., at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center. Find out how you can become a volunteer in your community with Kiwanis!

Yes! You can still purchase a personalized brick!

Become a permanent part of Allied Gardens History!

Last summer, the Kiwanis Club of Grantville-Allied Gardens successfully raised funds for a new clock at The Triangle on Waring Road and Zion Avenue. We did this by selling personalized engraved bricks. The first 330 bricks were placed under the new clock and dedicated to the community at the Allied Gardens 60th Birthday Celebration on October 18, 2014. During phase two, 120 more bricks were installed on April 19, 2015.

Because of the overwhelming response to this project, we have decided to make this a perpetual project for our club. Phase three is underway with a projected installation at the end of the summer. Proceeds from these brick sales will go back to the community through our various community service projects.

The bricks, along with your personal messages, will become a permanent part of the history of Allied Gardens.
