Grantville-Allied Gardens

We are proud to be the two-time winner of the Mission Times Courier's Neighborhood Best reader's poll  "Best Do-Gooder Organization"

Chartered in San Diego in 1960, we are a service organization of men and women desiring personal involvement in the leadership and improvement of our community. As Kiwanians, we volunteer our time to make our communities and world better places in which to live and work. As a group, we achieve what individuals cannot do alone. Our club is proud to be a part of Kiwanis International.

Kiwanis Motto: Serving the Children of the World

Our weekly club meetings include breakfast, interesting guest speakers, planning service projects, socializing and fun. Visitors and newcomers are always welcome! Be our guest and come have breakfast with a group of very nice people!

Yes! You can still purchase a personalized brick!

Become a permanent part of Allied Gardens History!

During the summer of 2014, the Kiwanis Club of Grantville-Allied Gardens successfully raised funds for a new clock at The Triangle on Waring Road and Zion Avenue. We did this by selling personalized engraved bricks. The first 330 bricks were placed under the new clock and dedicated to the community at the Allied Gardens 60th Birthday Celebration on October 18, 2014.

Because of the overwhelming response to this project, we have decided to make this a perpetual project for our club. We currently have over 575 bricks at the Kiwanis Triangle - and there is room for many more. Bricks will be installed in early 2017 and later throughout the year. Proceeds from these brick sales will go back to the community through our various community service projects. Stay in touch on commemorative bricks Facebook link for updates.

The bricks, along with your personal messages, will become a permanent part of the history of Allied Gardens.

Marvin Elementary School is the home of our newest youth group, the Marvin Elementary K-Kids ClubK-Kids is one of several Service Leadership Programs (SLPs) sponsored by Kiwanis in schools and communities around the world.

Students who choose to get involved with Kiwanis through their school can join K-Kids, Builders Club, Key Club International, or Circle K International, depending on their age and grade level.  Here, students can become active volunteers within their community, while also learning important skills for the real world, such as public speaking, project planning, teamwork, and leadership.

Our new K-Kids Club at Marvin Elementary School meets every other Thursday after school with advisor Kathy Wiskur, who is an award-winning member of our Kiwanis Club, and a Marvin Elementary graduate herself (never mind when!) Students interested in joining the club are encouraged to attend a meeting to find out what K-Kids and Kiwanis are all about.

The Kiwanis Club of Grantville-Allied Gardens sponsored the very first K-Kids Club in the state of California, starting at nearby Hearst Elementary School in 1994-95.  Thanks to the support of longtime Kiwanian Dr. Doug Grosmark, that club is still active and thriving at Hearst today!

We invite you to join us in serving the community!
