Honoring Outstanding Students from our Local Schools
Each month, local schools select an outstanding student to be honored as the Joanne and James MacDonald Student of the Month. Candidates are chosen by their school faculty for exhibiting outstanding academics, attitude, behavior, responsibility, as well as being hard-working and well-rounded individuals. Our club member, Dr. Doug Grosmark (pictured right), coordinates with the faculty from Hearst Elementary School, Lewis Middle School, and Patrick Henry High School, to honor the special young persons. Students of the Month are invited to a Kiwanis breakfast meeting, along with parents, teacher and school principal. They are introduced to our members and are awarded their Joanne and James MacDonald Student of the Month Award certificate. Their stories and enthusiasm are always very impressive and we are so pleased to be able to recognize young people who make their world a better place and have great futures ahead of them.
