Kiwanis Helping the Boy Scouts
Annually, the Boy Scouts of America work very hard to fundraise for the packs/troops by selling popcorn of all varieties. Sponsored by Grantville Allied Gardens Kiwanis, the one day distribution took place out of a local business, Chandler Packaging (John Chandler is a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club). In an intense but well coordinated effort, 70 pallets of presold popcorn, approximately 2,566 cases, were picked up by 38 Boy Scout troops and packs from all around the county. All of this took place in about four hours on September 13.
Our club has been a proud supporter and co-sponsor of Cub Scout Pack 928 in the Allied Gardens area since 1964. Some of the big events in which our club has been a supporter include the Blue and Gold banquet and the annual Pinewood Derby, a local event where the Cub Scouts race the model race cars that they have made, in Allied Gardens park. Leaders and scouts are always welcome at our club meetings, where we enjoy hearing about the positive effects that scouting has on the lives of the boys in our community.
A very efficient distribution event at Chandler Packaging.
Tons of popcorn ready to go to the scouts.
Special thanks to Chandler Packaging for making projects like Pinewood Derby possible!
