Five seniors from the Key Club at Patrick Henry HIgh School received their scholarship awards from the Grantville-Allied Gardens Kiwanis Club during a special presentation on Thursday, April 27th.

Audrey FreemanTran TranLinh Truong, and Trang Truong were able to receive their awards in person.  A fifth honoree, Bonnie Tran, was unable to attend the ceremony, but will be honored onstage (along with the other winners) during the upcoming PHHS Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, May 17th.  All five of these seniors put together impressive applications and have displayed incredible academic prowess, in addition to their service and leadership as members of our sponsored Key Club.  Several of them will become the first generation of their family to go to college -- and it's an impressive list of colleges as well!  While some of the students are still deciding on where to go next year, we heard names of Ivy League universities (Cornell), along with Stanford, UCLA, UCSD, and San Diego State University.

Kiwanis member Gary Blume served this year as Chair of the Scholarship Committee.  He hosted the ceremony and helped to present the awards along with fellow scholarship committee members Valerie Crawford and Danielle Iwatsu.

The Grantville-Allied Gardens Kiwanis Foundation allocated $14,000 in scholarship awards this year and has granted over $50,000 in scholarships over the past eight years.

Congratulations to our Class of 2023 scholarship recipients, and we hope they will continue their service through the Kiwanis Family and Circle K International when they get to college this fall.
