Three members of the G.A.G. Kiwanis Club traveled to Sparks, Nevada last weekend for the annual Cal-Nev-Ha Kiwanis District Education Conference.
Lt. Governor Alan Young, along with John and Valerie Crawford, as well as Honorary member John Brummer, were among the more than 550 Kiwanians who made the trip to the Reno-Sparks area.
Our club took home an Honorable Mention for the "G.A.G. RAG," our monthly newsletter that has been published for the first Thursday of every month since 2004.
While there, we elected Carole Farris of the Hanford Kiwanis Club to serve as our District Governor for the 2023-24 term, with Doug Frost of the Downtown San Diego Kiwanis Club to follow in 2024-25. Neill Kovrig of the Hillcrest All-Inclusive Kiwanis Club was officially installed as our next Division 21 Lt. Governor, although the term for these new officers does not actually begin until October 1st.
We also heard from staffers at Renown Hospital in Reno, one of the partner hospitals for the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Children's Fund, to learn how the hospital is saving the lives of children who are increasingly suffering catastrophic and traumatic injuries from the use of OHVs (Off-Highway Vehicles). The Children's Fund presented Renown Hospital with an additional gift of $15,000 to help them continue their work in this area.
Next year's District Convention is scheduled to take place on the Big Island of Hawai'i in August 2024. Make your plans to attend!
